沖縄を除く日本全国に分布する。海外ではインド、東南アジア、台湾、中国から知られる。寄主植物はマメ科の花だが成虫はマメ科以外の花からも得られる。成虫は春から秋にかけて見られるが、オスは特に秋に非常に多数の個体が様々な植物体上に見られる。メスは触角も含めて体色が一様に暗褐色だが、オスは淡褐色で皮下にオレンジ色の色素を持ち、メスよりも体が細い。

This species is distributed into Japan, except Okinawa, and is also widespread in India, Southeast Asia, China including Taiwan. It breeds on the Fabaceae flowers, but adults are collected from the flowers of not only Fabaceae but also other plant families. The female is uniformly dark brown in body including antennae, but the male is pale brown with orange hypodermal pigment and slender than the female.
